Week 1 Postpartum Weightloss

At 4 weeks postpartum I started Piyo, a beachbody program that combines yoga and Pilates. This program helps not only core strength but overall strength and flexibility.

I’ll admit, at first, I wasn’t thrilled about this program. I am a weight lifting, plyo jumping, cardio loving girl. Pilates and yoga aren’t my thing. The only time I did yoga was to stretch after a week of hard workouts.

Piyo was recommended by my doctor to help my core. So at her recommendation I decide to give it a try.

I’m impressed that I like it as much as I do. It gives me a great low impact workout while providing flexibility at the same time. This is perfect for after having a baby as my body was weak from everything being stretched out. See below for my pictures before and after having my  6th baby.

I made a meal plan at the beginning of the week and cooked all my food so there were no excuses.

My before pictures and weight:

After my first week I lost 1.5 pounds and 1.5 inches all over. Now, to some, this may not seem like a lot but I’m excited with these results.

I’m currently breastfeeding and have to be careful not to restrict my calories too much or my supply will tank. I want to be able to breastfeed my daughter as long as possible.

The calorie range I stuck to was 1600-1900 and it seemed to work well for me. I didn’t eat the same amount of calories everyday. There were some days where I was still hungry so I’d have and extra serving of protein or if I was tired I’d eat an extra carb.

Some of the food I ate during week 1:

It’s all about listening to my body. I’m hoping with week 2 to lose another 1.5. I think this is a good amount to lose each week.

My starting weight was 153 and I weighed in at 151.2. I have around 16 pounds to lose to get to my pre-pregnancy weight. I would like to lose an additional 10 pounds to get back to my pre-baby weight. (The weight I was before I ever had children)

I’m so excited for this journey one last time.

What about you? Are you on a weightloss journey? If so, what’s working for you?
